You laid a foundation.

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

George,

When we sat around the conference table the other day and shared some history with employees, I could not help but think of how much you and John have shaped the direction of PKHLS. You have helped lay a foundation that is rooted in honesty, integrity, and fairness. Those common traits are embedded in our culture and you exemplify each.

This transition has been guided by the same compass. I am happy for you and glad we can offer the freedom for you to practice the architecture you are passionate about.

You honor your craft.

George,

Samuel Butler once said, “Every man’s work, whether it be literature, or music or pictures or architecture or anything else, is always a portrait of himself.” I applaud and support your decision to fully engage your work and incorporate it into the essence of your life creating a portrait of yourself.

I believe the craft of Architecture is best practiced without the distraction of the business of Architecture. Have fun taking full advantage of your craft!
